Four candidates for the position of head of the Commission on the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries submitted their declarations to participate in the selection. This is evidenced by the data of the NAPK, reports " Economic Truth ".

Among the candidates is Valery Omelchenko, the son-in-law of the ex-head of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Vasily Dzharty. Alexander Khomyak is the ultimate beneficiary of the law firm Khomyak and Partners.

The fourth contender is Ivan Rudy, whom President Zelensky appointed secretary of the Advisory Council for War Veterans, Families of the Perished (Deceased) Defenders of Ukraine.

At the same time, entrepreneur Boris Baum, a freelance advisor to the deputy head of the President's Office, Kirill Timoshenko, and one of the authors of the bill on the gambling business, withdrew his candidacy.

Earlier, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPK) criticized the bill signed by President Zelensky on the legalization of gambling in Ukraine.

On September 23, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution "On the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries", which will include 230 employees.
